Shé:kon Sewakwé:kon, Rawkstars?!
How are you, Rawkstars?!

Kit Thomas (they/she) is a Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) multidisciplinary artist from Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, Wolf Clan. This Two-Spirit artist’s practice spans illustration, painting, digital work, public art, and community-based projects, including a mixed-media collage practice recognized for incorporating bingo cards as a recurring material.

Their work uses bold color, layered mixed media, and expressive linework to convey resilience and lived experience. Kit creates illustrative figures of women, Two-Spirit, non-binary people, and people of color, using movement, texture, and shifting perspective.

Their MMIW awareness artwork has been commissioned for public-facing projects, including banners and advocacy materials, and has been used in flyers for exhibitions and in collaboration with organizations such as Voices of the Grass. Their Two-Spirit digital artwork has been featured in Red Rising Magazine (Winnipeg) and in Kanien’kéha Awawenhnì:ta Aorihwà:ke (Moon Time Zine), published by The Period Purse (Toronto).

Kit has been an Artist-in-Residence at Adirondack Blue Lake Mountain Museum and has exhibited across New York, Los Angeles, and Canada. Their public work includes murals and consultation on the Canada Post Two-Spirit Gathering stamp.

Hands-on art workshops & real conversations

My main workshop right now is “Calling Our Numbers”. It’s mixed media using bingo cards. It’s about slowing down, getting grounded, and creating something meaningful from everyday materials.

I also offer:

  • Creative workshops for youth and adults

  • Talks on being a working artist and building your own path

  • Entrepreneurship through art

  • My journey as a Two-Spirit artist and traveling through art spaces

I keep things real, interactive, and accessible. People make something they can take with them, not just sit and listen.

If you’ve got a group, school, or event, reach out. We’ll make it work.

Testimonials.

"Recently had the privilege of seeing one of Kit Thomas' pieces, Dreamscape, in an exhibit in upstate NY. My partner and I were so moved, we took in the subjects' expressions for quite a while, tears streaming down our faces. I've never felt so connected with a piece before. It's been a delight to get to connect with Kit, who is a powerful community leader as well as a spectacular artist. Excited to continue following their work going forward."
